cell -- smallest part of a living thing
tissue -- similar cells working together
organ -- tissues working together
organ system -- organs working together
population -- members of one kind of organism in an ecosystem
community -- all the populations in an ecosystems
habitat -- a living thing's place to live in an ecosystem
competition -- the struggle among organisms for limited resources
abiotic factor -- the nonliving factors of an ecosystem, such as rocks
biotic factor -- the living factors of an ecosystem, such as plants
ecosystem -- all the living and nonliving things in an ecosystem
predator -- animals that hunt other animals for food
prey -- animals that get hunted by other animals
producers -- organisms that make their own food
consumers -- organisms that get energy by eating other living things
herbivores -- animals that eat only producers
omnivores -- animals that eat producers and consumers
carnivores -- animals that eat omnivores and herbivores
food chain -- the path energy takes as it flows from one organism to another in the form of food
food web -- the paths energy can take through multiple food chains
